Losing Interest, 02/09/22

Last night I went 7 for 8 including 5 straight up winners and a just screwing around 5 team parlay.

I also had Ottawa a plus 220 dog and Vancouver on the puck line.

It seems, I can't give money away- so I am going to quit writing here. I only get a couple of hits a day anyway.

So a couple more for the road.

The Chicago Bulls v Charlotte. Lay the 2 points, Charlotte has injuries.

Same with the Raptors at the Thunder. OKC's top player is out, Toronto is all healthy and rested, covering six times in a row in blowout fashion. I am laying all 10. May take the over (204) as well.

Vancouver on a back to back at home. Gritty team. Think they are better than the Islanders and you get plus money to play them on home ice.

Anyway, thanks for swinging by, those of you who did.

Sports Picks for Feb. 2, 2022

I'm happy to see hockey go into the all-star break.

I am all NBA today.

Laying the -3.5 at the Knicks. Grizzlies keep rolling here.

Cavs -6 at Houston. Cavs play Houston tough and always seem to cover.

Nuggets at Denver, -1. With all of their best players out, the Jazz find themselves in tough shape. Taking the Nugs -1.

Nets should dispose of the Kings rather easily even after their two tough losses- one last night.

Nets -4.

Best of luck!

Sports Picks for Feb.1, 2022

NBA

Golden State at San Antonio

I looked at the previous meeting between these two teams. Not only did San Antonio out shoot GS- they did so on both sides of the arc. Bear in mind that GS has the number #1 ranked defense.

Still at -2...this is a bit of a head scratcher. Revenge minded GS. Not betting the farm but certainly can't take the Spurs.

Denver +4.5 at Minnesota

Denver has beaten Minnesota 9 out of 10 times. The last time these teams met, Minnesota got the best of it. However, Denver has won 5 in a row, 4 on the road, and just kicked Milwaukee's ass pretty badly. I am going with the hot hand here, +4.5, maybe grab the money line at + 170 if I can get it.

NHL

Winnipeg -145 at the Flyers. The Flyers finally won a game after 13 losses. I am going to bet they can't get two in a row.

Ottawa at the Islanders. Two teams that can't score. Under 5.5.

Vancouver at Nashville. I'm going to try Vancouver again in a tough spot, +155 seems a little too juicy.

Calgary at Dallas. Dallas has owned Calgary for years. Dallas is my schizo team but I'm going to stab again.

Buffalo at Vegas. Buffalo isn't very good but I have noticed a few cracks in the Vegas squad. Vegas beats teams by one. I am going to play Buffalo on the puck line +1.5 for +135.

Best of luck!

Summary

Took a beating. Went 2-5, the exact opposite of yesterday. Dallas Stars once again found a way to lose. Up 3-1 when the 3rd period started, they gave up 3 goals in a row. I should never bet the Stars. They are the team that fails me nearly every time. Buffalo took a beating from the start. Winnipeg, plumbing ever deeper depths, found a way to lose to Philadelphia.

Sports Plays for Jan., 31, 2022

 Let's get right to it.

New Orleans +7.5 at Cleveage.

When I first saw this, I was looking for a Cleveland edge. What I found was that New Orleans has beaten Cleavage 7 times in a row outright. It's odd when crappy teams line up well against good teams.

Gonna stab New Orleans here +7.5. Might even try a little m/l if it's juicy enough.

Kings v Knicks

Knicks healthy, I couldn't bet on the Kings if I wanted to.

Knickerbockers. Lay the -6.5.

Golden State v Houston +10.5

I will probably lay the 10.5 on the road at Houston. GS has beaten them 5 times in a row. Won 4 times ATS. With Clay back, I think they are better. Never know when Curry takes a day off. Keep an eye on that at gametime.

Toronto v Atlanta -2

Atlanta puts their big win streak to the test once again. Atlanta has beaten them three in a row which dates back to last year. Nothing really recent. Has Toronto jumped up and beat me this year?  Yes, but they are just off the triple overtime win at the Heat on Saturday.

Clippers getting +2.5 at Indiana

I think the better team is the Clips. I am gonna stab this so long as I get +135 or so.

NHL

Vancouver +105 at Chicago. The NHL's hard luck story of the year is Vancouver. Coaching changes, sick and injured personnel- Vancouver is good, getting better, and desperate. Demko has been great between the pipes. Vancouver has not had an easy game all month. It's been murderer's row. I think they get a win tonight. I might play the under as well as long as it remains -120 or better.

Best of luck

Summary

I went 5-2 tonight. I lost the Cilppers on the m/l and Toronto ended Atlanta's run.

But the Knicks covered easy, so did Golden State and New Orleans.

My favorite cover of the day was Vancouver and the under. They finally got a team they could  beat.

Sports Picks for Jan., 30, 2022

 NFL

I took both favorites today. I should also note that KC was beaten by Cincy in the regular season. The same is true for LA. San Francisco has beaten them 6 times in a row.

Cincy is getting 7 points and San Francisco is getting 4, more or less.

Thus both favorites have already been beaten by their opponents. But this is the AFC and NFC championship. Home teams rarely lose these games.

From a betting standpoint- there is no edge here. I wouldn't even bet these games if it were not a 40 year tradition of mine.

Many years ago in Las Vegas, I was playing poker at the Rio during one of the AFC-NFC title games. Next to me was a man who was clearly distracted- so much so that he was holding up the game. Finally, in a huff, I asked him if had something bet on the game that was preventing him from playing cards. He reached into his shirt pocket, pulled out two betting slips, and handed them to me. He had bet each game for 55,000. I handed the slips back. Not one word was spoken by either of us. He won both games.

NHL

The Wild are just killing it. Play on the Wild about -135 favorites at the Islanders.

NBA

I have two injury plays.

The Timberwolves are finally home. Utah is still missing the two headed hydra of Gobert and Mitchell. This seems like a no brainer and is probably my favorite play. Take Minnesota -1.

The other is Phoenix. The Suns are at home playing the Spurs and giving a lot of points. They are -13.5 favorites which seems terribly high except that San Antonio's best players are all out with injuries. So this becomes a "how good is your bench?"

I don't know. But I do know that SA ain't that good to begin with- and if all of their starters were playing- they'd still be 8-10 point dogs. Can I give an extra 4? Yes.

Best of luck.

Summary

Went 2-3 today. KC 21-3 at the half, never scored another point until it was too late, and lost.

LA played like predictable little girls and eked out a win.

Well, at least we know the SA bench ain't all bad.

Sports Picks for Jan., 29, 2022

I hate making a bet- on what I think will be a competitive game- only to get my ass kicked.

That happened last night in the Capitals-Stars game. The Stars looked great until they dropped the first puck. Getting your ass kicked on home ice has to be embarrassing. Teams generally bounce back from those things and administer an ass kicking of their own next time out.

I don't like a lot today.

NBA

Memphis -5.5.

New Orleans +190 M/L (Boston hasn't exactly been world beaters, not the worst spot to take a 2 for 1 shot)

NHL

Toronto -1.5 (+105)

Vancouver +165

(Do you remember when I told you Calgary beats the hell out of US teams and finds a way to lose to Canadian ones)

I want to show you an absolute piece of garbage I clipped from a betting service. This is a quote on the Boston v Pelican game. It is nonsense. Boston has lost 3 out of 5 games beating two horrible teams. I hope this is not the kind of shit people are reading and betting on. I believe the author cut and pasted this from some other point in time- because they are actually too lazy to do any work or write. This is on a place I frequent called "sports chat place"

Both teams on the end of a back to back, the home team should usually have the edge here. However, the New Orleans Pelicans are struggling against good teams and Ingram is still banged up. The Boston Celtics are playing some of their best ball of the season, and that includes winning their last five games by an average of 10.6 points. The Celtics are starting to string something together. I’ll lay the reasonable chalk.

Summary

I had a split day, winning two and losing two. Toronto scored 5 goals in the third period to cover the puck line. Vancouver took Calgary all the way to over time but lost. The Grizzlies just keep rolling along.

Sports Picks for Jan. 28, 2022

Glad I took yesterday off. But I watched everything on some sort of streaming device.

Last night I witnessed something you rarely see. Golden State shot better from beyond the three point arc than they did inside of it. They beat it by a full 2%- scoring 63 points from 3 point land. It was quite a display.

The Timberwolves played very well also- nailing a lot of 3s. All in all they put up 239 points. All of which leads me to todays plays.

Minnesota is at Phoenix today. Phoenix is banged up but can actually play defense. They set the over in this game at 230. That is 9 points less than last nights 3 point fest.

Give me the under.

Grizzlies are home tonight v the Jazz. The two headed hydra that is the Jazz- Gobert and Mitchell- are out. I'm going to lay the 4. This would have been a great game with those two in- as it stands now- I think it makes for a good bet.

Memphis -4

I don't like Boston. I don't even enjoy watching them walk down the court every possession. In the 4th quarter, often while getting their asses kicked, they decide to play with a sense of urgency. Tonight they are at Atlanta. Atlanta has been super hot and they have whipped good teams, Miami, Minn., Mil., and Charlotte. I hate betting against Young. Kid's a sharpshooter. I think he'll show up in a big way.

Atlanta -1 or 2

I like the hockey card tonight but I like all the favorites. I look for dogs in hockey but I can't even get excited about a +120 Rangers team playing the Wild. Eating too much chalk with the Pens (thank gawd I didn't play on them -300 or something v the Kraken) so I landed here.

Colorado -190 or so v the Blackhawks. Betting against the Avs right now is a quick way to bankruptcy.

Colorado

Capitals at Dallas

What is going on with the Caps? Losers of 7 outta 10? Stars are starting to shine. Can't play the Caps right now.

Dallas -125 or so.

Best of luck!!

Went 3 wins, 2 losses. Dallas Stars were horrible, Phoenix/Minn scored 140 points in the first half alone- under was gone early.

Avs were good at -195 and the puck line +125, so I churned a small profit.

Taking the day off, Jan. 27, 2022, With Some Insight and a Couple Possible Plays in Hockey*

For the week I went 28-18 vs the spread. That's not too shabby.

Some days are complete disasters, some days like yesterday, are very good.

Very often, I parlay bets into two, three, and four team parlays. I generally don't go beyond that because casinos are just killing bettors who tackle bigger parlays. The first parlay card I ever filled out was a five team football bet. I hadn't even looked at the payoffs- so when the gal handed me 520 dollars for my 20 dollar bet- I was hooked.

True odds on a 5 team parlay are 32-1. So, winning 500 bucks after you gave the book 20 to hold means you got paid 25 for one.

You lost 25% somewhere. That's a lot of juice. The other day, I actually saw an online sportsbook offering 20-1 on 5 team bets. That is a horrendous 35% haircut.

Most books are shaving 4 team parlays by 25% as well.

Maybe the greatest handicapper in the world can defeat that but they will lose 35% every time they win. Imagine playing in a poker game where the house rakes 100 dollars from every 300 dollar pot. Pretty soon all the players are broke.

So the only way to mitigate this thievery is to out handicap the line or simply not use large parlays. I use a combination of both methods.

I tend to do two team bets and four team bets. I bet a lot of straight bets when I think the game is a cinch. Yesterday I did that with Memphis. I also will take a money line if a team I like is a small dog and the line is two points or less. Adding a +105 or +110 team to a ticket of -110 teams helps quite a bit. Yesterday I made an additional 70 dollars on a ticket by adding the Clippers money line (if only I had the courage to add Cleavage on the money line). This helps mitigate the heavy juice these sports books take.

I'll even go further. I used a parlay calculator to price a 4 team bet and caught my sportsbook stealing an extra 13 bucks. I rechecked with another calculator and got the same result.

If you live in Canada or anywhere outside the US the absolute best sports book with fair odds is Pinnacle Sports. The US, IRS, and banks were demanding records from bettors in the US- so Pinnacle just said fuck you to the US and all of its regulations. You can't bet there. It is a shame.

Land of the free- just so long as you payoff the government.

I liked a few bets today like the LA Kings and I wanted to see the over in the Florida Panthers game. I have been running extremely well taking the overs anytime Florida or Minnesota are home. It has become a huge angle for me the last month or so.

Right now, Calgary is kicking some ass. They clobbered the Blues at home and although this is a grudge match, I still like Calgary to whip the Blues at +120. They may be a little leg weary from the ass kicking they administered last night.

When Calgary plays another Canadien team look out.

My favorite play tonight is Carolina and Tittsburgh both on the puck line. Carolina has beat up some pretty good teams and sits close to the top in it's division. The Kraken are at Tittsburgh- about to feel some pain.

You can get Carolina for about +110. Tittsburgh for about -130.

Best of luck!

Sports Picks for Jan. 26, 2022

I really like today's action in the NBA and the NHL.

Going to do a little analysis here. Let's start with the NHL.

NHL

Sharks v Capitals- Sharks have been solid up until the last 5 games, 4 of which they lost. Caps are on the alternating win loss carousel. The Caps have beaten the Sharks 4 times in a row. I hate laying big chalk but its the Caps or pass.

Very quietly, Anaheim has gone 29 and 15 against the spread. They catch an overrated and underperforming Toronto team. Anaheim just beat two of the best teams in the league, Tampa Bay and Boston. There are a lot worse places to take an underdog stab than here. I am going to try and nab some +235 money here. Anaheim.

Calgary and Columbus. These are two of the most schizophrenic teams in the league. They beat good teams and then lose to crappy ones. Calgary always seems to lose to Canadian teams. Columbus hasn't shown me squat all year except for the beating they put on Carolina. I am playing Calgary on the puck line here. -1.5.

I can't remember the last time I saw Boston at +155. They haven't played Colorado since 2019. Very quietly, the highest scoring team in the league has been under the total for 5 of the last 6 games. I hate trying to beat Boston and Marchand. I bet Boston circled this date. Colorado is taking 73% of the money- I am going to take a stab with the 27%.

NBA

Every once in a while, I have a day where I like a lot of teams. Today is one of those days.

I like Cleavage at home getting 4 v Milwaukee. They have identical records almost and Cleavage has been covering all year. Taking the points.

The Clippers +1 to Orlando?? Is this a trap??

When I saw the Kings today v Atlanta, coming off that 30-point first half last night, I started drooling. I am laying the -9.5 with Atlanta.

Like the over Memphis v San Antonio. I may take the Grizzlies as well -4.

Last but certainly not least. I often think of the Jazz as a two horse team. Gobert and Mitchell. Tonight both players will be out of action when the best team in the league (a little nicked up too) comes calling. Phoenix has been very sweet to me all year. I have Phoenix -1.5. Wow.

Well there you have it. Let's see how tonite goes.

Summary

I went 1-3 in hockey with both the Ducks and Bruins losing in OT. I skipped the Caps. Won with Calgary.

I went 5-0 in basketball. Lost a heartbreaking over by 1/2 point 228 and 1/2 in the Memphis game.

All in all went 6 and 4, but isolated bets by sports- bet Memp and the over straight up, so I did well.

Sports Picks for Jan. 25, 2022

We hit the Minnesota Wild over 6.5 rather handily yesterday. I play in a contest with deadlines so that was my pick for the day. The Wild at home this year has been money. Last night they scored 8 goals by themselves. Not only do I love hockey but today it's the only game in town.

The NBA looks terrible. I have a couple leans which I will tell you about but that doesn't mean I'm going to wager on them.

The Kings. Sacramento has covered every spread with Boston in the last two years. This spans 6 games. I also hate the way Boston plays...walking down the court every possession. They just remind me of lazy ass non contenders.

Take Sacramento plus 8.5.

My other lean is Dallas. They've been playing great ball and they have beat Golden State 7 out of 9 times dating back to 2019. In their last game, Dallas held Steph Curry to only 13 points so clearly they understand who beats you. Both squads are relatively healthy- GS is a little worse off.

Take Dallas plus 3.5. They might just win this outright.

Something tells me Charlotte is going to bounce back over that horrible performance on Sunday night. They are getting 3.5 at Toronto- but I'm just going to watch to see whether they have their shit together again.

NHL

I have the NY Islanders -239 v Philadelphia who have lost 13 straight. I like the under here (5.5) goals as Philly can't score at all.

The sports tout Ricky Trans is taking the Jets against Florida. Last time he picked Winnipeg he lost by 6 goals. Winnipeg used to beat Florida back when Florida was bad and Winnipeg was good. They have reversed roles since then. They have not played each other since 2019. Once again I am siding against Ricky. Panthers -160.

I like the Nashville Predators v Seattle. Seattle beat Nashville in October. I think tonight is payback time. I might even play the puck line and nab +150 or so.

Best of luck. This is a tough day, go easy.

Summary

I really didn't like the NBA yesterday so I made a small two team parlay on the Kings and Dallas.

Both teams absolutely got waxed. The Kings by 53. The Mavs by 30 something.

That kind of loss makes you feel like an idiot.

NHL

It was favorite night. All 8 favorites won.

I had scratched the Penguins over which hit. I hit with Predators on the puck line. Florida also beat Winnipeg. Ricky Tran, famous handicapper, hasn't done so well.

The under in the Islanders game was over in the first period really. When I saw that 2-2 score, I felt the doom.

2-3. The Preds +150 on the puck line saved this day from being far worse.

Sports Bets for Jan. 23, 2022

Well after perfectly nailing both road dogs yesterday- I think things get a little more difficult today in the NFL.

In the first game the Rams are on the road at Tampa Bay. On paper, TB has a better offense and defense. They have the greatest QB of all time. They have a healthy running game. Passing game is a match.

I see this more like a 4-7 point game. My sportsbook, forever screwing it's customers at every turn, hung -3 on this game while everyone else had it -2.5.

This time I landed on the home favorite, Tampa Bay.

The second tilt, arguably the best game of the weekend, has Buffalo at Kansas City. Although better on paper, Buffalo will be up against an improving Kansas City.

KC has a lot of weapons and a better passing attack. Year after year, Travis Kelce just seems to get better. I probably should have stayed away from this game. Talk about a coinflip- but something tells me Buffalo is driven. KC beat their ass in the playoffs last year by 14. Today, a wiser, angrier, Buffalo shows up.

So I landed on Buffalo. I took the +110 money line because the spread was less than 3.0.

NBA

I love the way Charlotte has been playing. I'm going to lay the -3.

I also like the Bulls. Orlando has won 2 games out of 17 at home. Bulls are no road warriors but against Orlando- I have to lay the -3.

Tonights rematch Grizzlies v Dallas Mavericks is my game of the day. Grizzlies suffered a complete meltdown in the 2nd half v Dallas last week. It was so bad, with 2 minutes to go in the 4th quarter, all the Grizzlies could manage was 6 points!

So a revenge minded Memphis team shows up. I'll be watching, not betting.

NHL

I absolutely laughed when I saw the spread LA Kings -130 v NJ Devils. The Devils lost to the worst team in the league, the Coyotes. The next outing they beat arguably the best team in the league, the Carolina Hurricanes.

If you make a habit out of betting schizophrenic teams like that, and can win, I want to be friends with you. One of the touts picked NJ. Not this tout. Stay away. No value here in either side.

So I am going to try and a little two teamer. Tittsburgh on the puck line at home and the healthy Blues at the unhealthy Canucks.

Best of Luck!

Summary

Pretty lousy day. Lost both football games.

In NBA action I didn't bet Chicago because the sportsbook guy told me that their star player suffered a broken wrist and would be out for several weeks. So I dodged that bullet, bet the Heat instead and hit that.

Charlotte was a tremendous disaster. I have never seen a professional basketball team go 0-19 in three pointers against a team with little or no defense at home. I am still scratching my head over that terrible game.

Tittsburgh won but didn't cover the puckline. So I lost that.

I did manage to hit the St Louis Blue game.

Took Monday off for a medical procedure. My only wager is on the Minnesota Wild

over 6.5 goals.

Sports Bets for Saturday, Jan 22, 2022

 AFC

I am taking today off, more or less, except for football.

On Friday night I made my NFL bets for Saturday. A brief analysis.

I am not a huge Titans fan with or without Derrick Henry. They squeaked through so many games this year that I was underwhelmed. Whipped a shitty Jags team and the Fish.

In terms of schedule strength, I give an ever so slight edge to Cinncinati.

I really see this as a three point game. The line is solid. Getting 3.5- I have to take the Bengals and watch Tennessee squeak out another ugly win.

NFC

I think the most overrated team in the NFC is Green Bay. They play 6 games in a shit division, their defense is mediocre and on offense they have D Adams. And Rodgers. That's it.

On paper, SF played a tougher schedule, has a better defense, and a better offense. Really. My concern is Garoppolo and that hand of his.

So I played this both ways. I took the points (5.5) and played SF on the moneyline at plus 200.

Can either team win this? Yes. But once again, if either team can win- I think you have to take the points.

Best of Luck!

Summary

Absolutely nailed both games.

Sports Picks for Jan. 21, 2022

Today was pretty tough. Good games, good lines.

Even while writing this- I am not sure who I am going to bet except a two teamer in the NBA.

I love Charlotte. They are playing great basketball. the OKC Thunder are also playing well- covering but still losing. I am going to lay the nine on a Friday night. I also like a healthy Washington at home.

Toronto is playing game 5 with one more on the road. They are a quality team just not playing well. Going to side with Washington and lay the small chalk, -1.

NHL

Sometimes I look at a card and I am absolutely bewildered by the lines. Hockey can be an absolute crapshoot. Last month I actually went 0-9 for the first time in my life. Hockey can be unpredictable.

So today I am going to break up the NHL in to 2 groups. Strong leans and weak leans.

Strong Leans

Minnesota Wild

AZ/NYI under. New AZ goalie has been money.

Tampa Bay owns Anaheim. I just hate laying -220.

Florida- same issue as TB- somewhere around -220.

Weak Leans

Rangers getting a huge price at Carolina. Carolina has owned them. Just too big to pass up. +180

Tittsburgh (got that from Greenbook movie) on the puck line -1.5 for 110 or better

St Louis Blues -160

Last weak lean is Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA. They were money for me all this month until the Dallas 2nd half meltdown. Gonna take a small stab at +140.

Best of luck!!

Summary

Hit Charlotte, lost Washington. Broke even.

Hit Memphis.

Hit the Wild and NYI under -150 and -125.

Hit Tittsburgh on the puckline.

Hit the Blues.

Hit Florida.

Lost TB.

Lost 50 NYR.

Sports Picks for Jan. 20, 2022, w Brilliant Analysis

 NBA

I like the NY Knicks at -2.5. There are no earth-shattering injuries or illnesses on either side. New Orleans just can't get it together on the road. I think the Knicks cover this easily.

The game of the night is Phoenix-Dallas. I'd really like to bet it but I think it's a coinflip. If I were forced and I'm not- I'd probably land on the homies.

The last time Golden State met the Indiana Pacers- it was close the entire way. In fact, the Pacers seem to line up well against Golden State. I hate betting Golden State because I never know when Steph Curry will just take a day off. Based on the last couple meetings, if I were forced, I'd take the Pacers and the 10.5.

So tonight, it's the NY Knicks. I'm gonna pass on the other two.

NHL

I love hockey tonight.

I have four picks which I think are pretty solid.

First up, I like the over in Winnipeg and Nashville Both offenses are better than average and there are no killers in the net. Over 5.5.

I want to bet Dallas but they have been a bowl of suck lately and it would not shock me to see the Sabres whip em. I can't lay big chalk on a team playing this badly.

Edmonton has 6 losses in a row. Ricky Tran, professional handicapper likes 'em. I don't. I can eat a little chalk with Florida. -150

I like San Jose over the Kraken just because I don' think the Kracken are all they are kracked up to be. Taking the fair price here, -105.

Lastly, I like Boston. They've whipped the Caps five times in a row. Boston should be a little pissed after getting their heads handed to them by Carolina.

So that's it.

NY Knicks -2.5

Boston Bruins -150

Nashville over 5.5, -110.

Florida -150.

San Jose -105.

The Big Summary

The Knicks were horrible. All three road teams won in the NBA Thursday night. Golden State could not even win the game let alone cover (18 !) against Indiana's second string. Golden State is a team I rarely bet. Phoenix game was a great game.

I nailed 3 out of 4 hockey games. I thought I was going to go 4-0 until San Jose slipped late.

Once again, I made a small profit because two of my selections were -150.

Sports Picks for Jan. 19, 2022

NBA

Memphis + 6.5- Memphis back on track after complete 2nd half meltdown v Dallas, may stab a little on money line at +220

Miami Over 216

Dallas -4

Charlotte Over 221

NHL

NY Rangers +140 (healthy)

Colorado -1.5 (7th in a row v Anaheim?)

Final Tally

Memphis, Miami over, and Charlotte over all lost. Those bets were all -110.

The sportsbook had Dallas at -3.5 (-110) which won.

The Rangers covered easily, 6-3 at +140.

Colorado covered the puck line, 2-0 at even money.

We eked out a small profit of 25 bucks based on 50 dollar bets.

An Introduction

I have two passions in life. Writing and sports gambling. Those two things consume a fair amount of my time each day.

I don't bet all sports. I'd rather watch paint dry than bet soccer. I dabble in college basketball but I prefer not to bet that sport until the NCAA tournament begins in March.

I confine my betting to NCAA and NFL football, NBA basketball, NHL hockey, and MLB baseball.

I won't post the amounts that I bet for various reasons. Most of the time, I make flat bets. I bet singles and parlays up to five teams, round robin parlays also.

I can make anywhere from 0-15 bets a day. I never know how many until I am through working on them.

I don't bet every day. There will be days when I just pass.

I spend 2 or 3 hours a day finding plays I like. Things that I can make money on. I am not interested in solely playing favorites and eating a ton of chalk. I look for money line dogs or teams getting points- teams that give me a mathematical edge. Favorites generally don't do that.

I look for favorable matchups with an edge. Back up goalies in hockey cause me to lean on the "over" or the side.

My goal is simple. Make more money than I lose. I look for streaks and angles. I've been doing this for 40 years.

I am not going to post a giant analysis for each play. I don't have the time. I have deadlines and I will generally be out the door. These are free picks.

But I promise I will post my best plays here. I am not going to tell you what to bet, how to bet it, or how much. You must do your own due diligence, never bet what you can't freely lose, and eat shit like the rest of us when the Warriors give Steph Curry a day off and announce it sometime after we've made our bets.

I will update my picks with the results. Best of luck!
